AC Compressor Won't Start — Hums or Clicks

ICP family units (Tempstar, Heil, Tempstar, Comfortmaker) share the same condenser platform. The run capacitor is the #1 failure — typically a 45/5 or 40/5 MFD 440V dual run cap. Furnace Short-Cycles — Lights Then Dies

The flame sensor is the most common cause of short-cycling on ICP family furnaces. These units use the same control boards and flame sensors across all ICP brands — a sensor from a Heil furnace fits an identical Tempstar or Comfortmaker model. Pressure Switch Error (2 Blinks)

ICP furnaces frequently throw pressure switch errors, especially in cold weather. Before replacing the switch, check: 1) the condensate drain trap — if it's full, it blocks inducer airflow. 2) the vent pipe — ice or bird nests block exhaust. 3) the inducer motor — listen for unusual sounds. Only replace the pressure switch after confirming the inducer and venting are clear.
