ICP family units (Comfortmaker, Heil, Tempstar, Comfortmaker) share the same condenser platform. The run capacitor is the #1 failure — typically a 45/5 or 40/5 MFD 440V dual run cap. When it fails, the compressor hums but won't engage, or the condenser fan runs at partial speed. Check for a bulging or oil-leaking capacitor. This is a $18 DIY fix that takes 15 minutes. If the capacitor tests good, check the contactor. ICP units use a 30A or 40A single-pole contactor. Pitted or burned contacts prevent the compressor from receiving power. Listen for a click when the thermostat calls — no click means a dead contactor coil. Shop Comfortmaker contactors →
The flame sensor is the most common cause of short-cycling on ICP family furnaces. These units use the same control boards and flame sensors across all ICP brands — a sensor from a Heil furnace fits an identical Tempstar or Comfortmaker model. Clean the sensor rod with fine sandpaper (emery cloth). If cleaning doesn't last more than a few days, replace the sensor — it's under $20. Shop Comfortmaker flame sensors →
ICP furnaces frequently throw pressure switch errors, especially in cold weather. Before replacing the switch, check: 1) the condensate drain trap — if it's full, it blocks inducer airflow. 2) the vent pipe — ice or bird nests block exhaust. 3) the inducer motor — listen for unusual sounds. Only replace the pressure switch after confirming the inducer and venting are clear.
All ICP family brands — Heil, Tempstar, Comfortmaker, Arcoaire, Keeprite, Day & Night — use identical OEM parts. A control board from a Heil furnace is the same board in the equivalent Tempstar, Comfortmaker, or Comfortmaker model. Same part numbers, same factory. Search by your model number above for guaranteed cross-brand fit.
International Comfort Products (ICP) manufactures all of its brand families - Heil, Tempstar, Comfortmaker, KeepRite, Arcoaire, and Day & Night - on shared production platforms with identical engineering specifications. OEM part numbers are interchangeable across all ICP brands, meaning the same control board, capacitor, or contactor fits all of them. Our ICP family inventory is stocked for same-day dispatch.
