Lennox furnaces — especially the SLP98, EL296, and ML296 series — are known for pressure switch issues. The most common cause isn't the switch itself: it's a clogged condensate drain trap. Lennox high-efficiency furnaces produce significant condensate, and the internal trap clogs with sediment. Clear the trap before replacing the switch. Older Lennox furnaces use silicon carbide igniters that are fragile and crack easily — often lasting only 2-3 years. Newer models use silicon nitride which lasts 5-7 years. Lennox uses proprietary control boards that are more expensive than most brands ($200-$400). The SureLight board (older models) and iComfort/S30 boards (newer) are common failure points.
