How to Choose the Right HVAC Control Board

The control board is the brain of your furnace or air handler, managing the ignition sequence, blower speeds, safety circuits, and diagnostic codes. When a control board fails, the system may not start, may lock out with error codes, or may run erratically. Control boards are model-specific components that must match your equipment exactly for proper operation.

Furnace Control Boards

Furnace control boards manage the entire heating cycle: inducer motor startup, igniter activation, gas valve opening, flame verification, and blower operation. Modern boards include LED diagnostic codes that flash error sequences when a fault is detected. Common board part numbers include HK61EA002 and HK61EA006 for Carrier and Bryant furnaces, and CEPL130590-01 for ICP, Heil, and Tempstar units.

Fan Blower Control Boards

Fan blower control boards manage blower motor speeds for heating, cooling, and continuous fan modes.
