The Goodman 0130M00105 is a factory-original snap-disc defrost thermostat for the ASZ130181AE 13 SEER, 1.5-ton heat pump. Clamped to the outdoor coil, this temperature-sensing switch tells the defrost control board when the coil is cold enough to accumulate frost and when it has cleared. Without an accurate defrost thermostat, the unit either ices over — killing heating capacity — or runs unnecessary defrost cycles that waste energy and blow cold air indoors.
The genuine Goodman thermostat is calibrated to the exact open/close temperature the ASZ13 defrost board expects. Generic snap discs with the wrong cut-in/cut-out points cause premature or delayed defrost, coil icing, and comfort complaints. Because this part is inexpensive and calibration-critical, OEM is the smart choice.
Easy to Moderate (2/5). Cut power, remove the service panel, unclip the old sensor from the coil, transfer the spade wire connectors, and clamp the new thermostat firmly to the same tube location for accurate readings. About 15–20 minutes with basic hand tools.
