The draft inducer pressure switch is a safety device on your Carrier PY3GNAA48130NA furnace that confirms the inducer motor is actually moving combustion air before the burners are allowed to light. At the start of each heating cycle the inducer spins up, creating negative pressure that closes the switch; only then does the control board energize the igniter and open the gas valve. If venting is blocked or the inducer is weak, the switch stays open and ignition is prevented. When the switch itself fails — stuck open, corroded, or fed by a cracked sensing hose — the furnace runs the inducer but never lights, then locks out, usually flashing a pressure-switch fault code.
