A run capacitor is the energy-storage component that gives your Carrier PH2P-series package unit the phase shift it needs to start and keep its compressor and condenser fan motor running efficiently. It stores and releases charge on every cycle, supplying the steady torque those motors depend on. When a run capacitor weakens or fails the symptoms are hard to miss: the unit hums but won't start, the condenser fan spins slowly or not at all, the compressor short-cycles or trips the breaker, and you may notice warm air at the registers, higher electric bills, or a swollen, leaking can on top of the part. Running a motor on a failing capacitor draws excess amperage and can burn out the windings within weeks. This is a dual-rated run capacitor matched to the OEM microfarad (MFD) and voltage specification for your model — typically a 370/440 VAC dual-round can held to within ±5% of the labeled MFD value (for example 35/5 or 45/5 MFD). That tight ±5% OEM tolerance keeps the motor's run current in its designed range. Always confirm the MFD and voltage stamped on your existing capacitor before ordering. Capacitor tolerance matters more than almost any other part. Generic aftermarket capacitors are often built to ±10–15% tolerance with lower-temperature film, so they drift out of spec and fail within one or two seasons. A capacitor reading even a few MFD low starves the compressor windings, causing overheating and premature compressor failure — a repair that can cost more than the entire unit. OEM-spec capacitors hold tolerance and survive Carrier's rated operating temperatures. Install difficulty: 2 of 5. Tools: insulated screwdriver, 1/4" nut driver, needle-nose pliers, and a multimeter with capacitance test. #1 safety warning: a charged capacitor can deliver a dangerous shock — kill the disconnect AND discharge the capacitor across its terminals with an insulated resistor before touching the leads. Photograph the wiring first. Ships same business day from our stocked warehouse on orders placed before 3 PM CST. Backed by a 1-year OEM warranty and 30-day hassle-free returns on uninstalled parts.
This part is compatible with Carrier model PH2PNB060000AB. Always verify the part number against your unit's data plate before ordering.
OEM parts are manufactured to the exact factory specifications for your unit. Generic aftermarket alternatives may fit physically but often use lower-rated components that reduce equipment life and void manufacturer warranties. When the cost difference between OEM and generic is $10-30, the OEM part is always the smarter investment on a system worth $5,000-$15,000.
Same-day shipping on orders before 3 PM CST. Standard delivery 2-5 business days, express options available at checkout. 30-day hassle-free returns on uninstalled parts — free return shipping included. 1-year OEM factory warranty coverage.
