The defrost control board governs the outdoor section of your Carrier PH13NB04800GABAA heat pump. Using coil temperature and accumulated run time, it decides when to enter and exit defrost so ice doesn't build on the outdoor coil and block airflow during heating. It also drives the compressor contactor, reversing valve solenoid, and outdoor fan, and enforces the anti-short-cycle delay that protects the compressor.
