The flame sensor is a single metal rod that confirms the burners actually lit on your Carrier PG9MAB060080LBSA package furnace. Using flame rectification, the control board sends a small AC signal through the flame; the ionized flame conducts a tiny DC microamp current back to the board, proving the burners are burning.
