The pressure switch is the safety interlock that confirms your Carrier PG9MAA furnace's draft inducer is actually moving combustion air before the board allows ignition. It's a diaphragm switch connected by a hose to the inducer housing; when the inducer pulls the correct negative pressure, the diaphragm closes the contacts and the board proceeds to the igniter.
