The vent pressure switch is a key safety device on your Carrier PG95XAT42060BBAA gas furnace. When the control board energizes the inducer motor, that motor draws a slight negative pressure through the heat exchanger and flue; the pressure switch senses that draft and closes its contacts to confirm the venting is clear before any gas is allowed to flow. If draft can't be proven, the furnace won't ignite.
