The hot surface igniter is the heart of the ignition sequence in your Carrier PG95SAS60120DAAA gas furnace. On each call for heat, once the draft is proven the control board energizes this igniter and it glows white-hot to roughly 2,500F, lighting the burner gas the instant the valve opens.
