The air-proving pressure switch is a critical safety device in your Carrier PG8JAA048135AGJA furnace. Before the board will allow ignition, the inducer (draft) motor must pull enough negative pressure through the heat exchanger and flue to prove combustion air is flowing and exhaust is venting. The switch is normally open and closes when it senses that vacuum.
