Where to find the Heil serial number

On an air conditioner or heat pump, look for the data plate on the side or rear of the outdoor unit. On a furnace, open the upper front door — the plate is inside the cabinet.

How to decode a Heil serial number

Format: YYWW or WWYY digits

1. If serial starts with 4 digits: reads as YYWW or WWYY.
2. If serial starts with a letter: older format, check printed Mfg Date on plate.
