Overview
This OEM high and low refrigerant pressure switch set — part 1184656 (Pressure Switch, High) and 1184655 (Pressure Switch, Low) — protects the Tempstar TSH548GKA100 compressor from damaging operating conditions. The high-pressure switch opens the control circuit and shuts the compressor down if discharge pressure climbs too high (dirty condenser, failed fan, overcharge). The low-pressure switch opens on a loss of charge or restricted suction to prevent the compressor from running in a vacuum. Both are normally-closed safety devices wired in the 24V control circuit.
A failed-open or chattering switch will lock the system out and prevent the compressor from running even when conditions are normal; a failed-closed switch removes safety protection. Symptoms include a compressor that won't start, intermittent lockouts, or short-cycling on the safety circuit.

Installation Guide

- Remove — Disconnect the 24V leads; switches on Schrader-style ports thread off without recovery, while brazed/sweat switches require refrigerant recovery first.
- Install — Install the new switch on its matching port, reconnect the 24V leads per your photo, and check for leaks.
- Test — Restore power, run the system, and confirm normal pressures with no nuisance lockout.
