Overview

This OEM low-pressure switch (Tempstar part number 1184655) is the factory loss-of-charge safety control for the Tempstar TCH948GKA100. Wired into the 24V control circuit, the switch monitors suction-side refrigerant pressure and opens to shut down the compressor if pressure drops too low — protecting the compressor from running on a low or lost charge, a blocked metering device, or a frozen coil. When this switch fails or sticks open, the system may short-cycle, lock out, or refuse to start even with a full charge; a switch stuck closed removes the protection entirely.
