This OEM hot surface igniter/sensor kit (part 1009524, IGNITOR/SENSOR HSP SK) provides both ignition and flame proving on the Tempstar T8MPL100J20A1 gas furnace. The silicon nitride HSP element is more durable and faster-heating than older silicon carbide igniters, and the integrated sensor function confirms flame so the control board keeps the gas valve open. A failed igniter/sensor causes no-light conditions or short-cycle lockouts when flame can't be proven.
