Overview

This OEM hot surface igniter (HSI, part #1172533) is the component that lights the burners in your Tempstar T9UHX100L20A2 gas furnace. On each heat call the control board energizes the igniter, which glows white-hot to ignite gas at the burners. Because the silicon-carbide or silicon-nitride element is heated and cooled hundreds of times per season, it becomes brittle and is one of the most frequent no-heat failure points.
