This is the OEM hot surface igniter (OEM part 1172533, HSI) for the Tempstar T9UHX060F12A2 gas furnace, used with the matching VR8205S snap-mount gas valve (OEM part 1175705). The igniter is an electrically heated element that glows orange-hot to light the gas at the burners on every heat call. It is among the most common furnace wear items because repeated heat cycling makes the element brittle until it cracks. On failure, the inducer and blower may still run but the burners never light, and the control board generally locks out after several failed ignition attempts.
