Overview

This genuine OEM hot surface igniter (HSI, part number 1172533) provides the glowing element that lights the burners on your Tempstar T8MPT075F14B1 two-stage gas furnace. On a call for heat the control board energizes the igniter until it reaches ignition temperature, then opens the gas valve. The igniter is a normal wear item — the silicon nitride/carbide element becomes brittle with thermal cycling and eventually cracks, leaving the furnace unable to light. This is the single most common no-heat failure on hot surface ignition furnaces.
