Overview
This is a genuine OEM defrost control board (part #1086070) for the Tempstar TCH230AKA1 heat pump. The defrost board is the brain of the outdoor unit's heating-season operation: it monitors the defrost thermostat and run time, then initiates and terminates defrost cycles to clear frost and ice from the outdoor coil. During defrost it energizes the reversing valve, shuts the outdoor fan, and signals for auxiliary heat. A failed defrost board leaves the outdoor coil iced over, kills heating capacity, and can trip the compressor on high pressure.
