Overview

This genuine OEM defrost control board (P/N 1086070) is the brain of the Tempstar TCH224AKA1 heat pump's defrost cycle. In heating mode the outdoor coil collects frost; the defrost board monitors coil temperature and run time, then periodically reverses the system to melt that frost so the heat pump can keep pulling heat efficiently. It coordinates the reversing valve, the outdoor fan, and the timed defrost interval. When this board fails, the unit may ice over solid in cold weather, never initiate defrost, get stuck in defrost, or fail to run the outdoor unit at all. A faulty board is a common cause of poor heating performance and short-cycling on heat pumps.
