Overview

This OEM single-pole 30-amp contactor (part 1172472, with shunt) is the electrical switch that powers the compressor and condenser fan motor in the Tempstar TSH542HKA200. On a call for cooling, the 24V control coil pulls the main contacts closed and sends line voltage to the outdoor unit. With repeated cycling the contact points pit, arc, and eventually weld, and the coil can burn open — making a failed contactor one of the most common no-cool service calls.

Watch for a unit that won't start, contacts that stick closed (compressor runs continuously), a chattering or buzzing contactor, and visible burning or pitting on the contacts.
