Overview
This OEM single-pole contactor (part #1172472) is the electrical switch that powers the compressor and condenser fan in your Tempstar TCH648GKA200. It is rated at 30 amps with a 24V coil and includes an integrated shunt for proper circuit handling. When the thermostat calls for cooling, the 24V coil energizes and pulls the contacts closed, sending line voltage to the outdoor unit. Contactors wear out from arcing and the constant mechanical cycling that pits and burns the contacts. A failed contactor causes a unit that won't start, chattering or buzzing at the contactor, or — when contacts weld shut — a compressor that runs continuously and won't shut off.

Installation Guide
- Safety First — Disconnect power at the breaker and outdoor disconnect. Verify zero voltage at the line terminals with a multimeter.
- Access — Remove the condensing unit electrical service panel.
- Document — Photograph all line, load, and 24V coil connections before disconnecting.
- Remove — Transfer the wires one at a time, or label and remove them, then unscrew the old contactor from its base.
- Install — Mount the new contactor and reconnect line, load, and coil leads exactly as photographed.
- Test — Restore power and confirm the contactor pulls in cleanly and the compressor/fan energize on a cooling call.
