Overview

This OEM 40VA control transformer (Part No. 1091226) steps 277-volt line power down to 24 volts to power the low-voltage control circuit of the Tempstar TEB15R34RTA packaged terminal air conditioner. The combo also includes the unit's 24V relays — a standard SPST relay (Part No. 1053004) and a 24V DPST relay (Part No. 1060940) — that the transformer energizes. If the transformer fails, the entire 24V control circuit goes dead: the thermostat, relays, and contactors lose power and the unit will not run. A 40VA transformer supplies ample capacity for the relays and controls in this PTAC.

Installation Guide

1. Safety First — Disconnect power at the breaker and verify zero voltage with a multimeter — note this is a 277V primary.
2. Access — Remove the PTAC front cover and control-box service panel.
3. Document — Photograph all primary and secondary leads before disconnecting.
4. Remove — Disconnect the 277V primary and 24V secondary wires, then unbolt the old transformer from its bracket.
5. Install — Mount the new transformer, land the 277V primary and 24V secondary per your photo, and seat the relays.
6. Test — Restore power and confirm 24V at the secondary and proper relay operation on a thermostat call.
