Overview

This OEM 40-amp contactor (part 1176763) is the main switching relay for the Tempstar T4H560GKD300 condensing unit. A 24V control signal energizes the contactor coil, closing the contacts to send line voltage to the compressor and condenser fan motor. Rated at 40 amps, it handles the higher inrush of larger compressors. Like all contactors, the contacts pit and burn over thousands of cycles. Failure symptoms include a unit that won't start, chattering or humming at the contactor, contacts welded closed so the outdoor unit runs constantly, or visible arcing and pitting on the points.

Installation Guide

1. Safety First — Disconnect power at the disconnect and breaker, verify zero voltage with a multimeter.

4. Remove — Move one wire at a time from the old contactor to the new one, or label leads; unscrew the contactor from the bracket.
5. Install — Mount the new contactor and reconnect line, load, and 24V coil leads per your photo.
6. Test — Restore power and confirm the contactor pulls in on a cooling call and the compressor and fan start.
