Overview

This OEM single-pole definite purpose contactor (part 1050699) is the switching relay that energizes the outdoor unit on the Tempstar TCH218AKA1 heat pump. When the thermostat calls for cooling or heating, the 24V control circuit pulls in the contactor coil, closing the 25A main contacts to feed line voltage to the compressor and condenser fan motor. Pitted, welded, or chattering contacts are one of the most common no-start failures in the field. Symptoms include a unit that won't start, a buzzing or humming contactor that never pulls in, or contacts that stick closed so the compressor never shuts off.
