35+5 MFD dual run capacitor — the larger 35 MFD side powers the compressor, the smaller 5 MFD side powers the condenser fan motor. One capacitor replaces two separate run capacitors, saving space and simplifying wiring.
Rated 370/440V for all residential AC systems. Three terminals: HERM (hermetic/compressor), FAN (condenser fan motor), and COM (common — connects to contactor).
HERM → Compressor start winding (usually brown or yellow wire)
FAN → Condenser fan motor (usually brown wire from motor)
COM → Common — connects to contactor (L2 side)
The LARGER MFD value (35) is always the compressor side. The SMALLER value (5) is the fan motor side. They are labeled on the terminals — HERM goes to the compressor, FAN goes to the fan motor, COM goes to the contactor.
Yes — you can use a 35 MFD single cap for the compressor and a 5 MFD single cap for the fan motor. Wire the compressor cap between HERM and COM, and the fan cap between FAN and COM. This is a common emergency repair when the exact dual value isn't available.
Heat is the #1 killer. Capacitors degrade faster in hot environments — the outdoor condensing unit in Texas summer heat accelerates aging. Electrical surges, short cycling, and simply age (typical life: 5-15 years) also cause failure. Replace proactively if the unit is 10+ years old.
Fitment Guaranteed — if this capacitor doesn't work in your system, we'll send the right one or refund you.
