The traditional bundled service model (markup parts 200-300%, bundle with labor) faces growing pressure from informed consumers who know what a capacitor costs.

For HVAC companies, the opportunity is in education and trust — not in hiding parts costs. Companies that help homeowners understand their systems will earn the complex jobs (compressor replacement, system installation) while losing the simple ones (capacitor, igniter, flame sensor) to DIY.
