Gas Valve Function

The gas valve controls fuel flow to the burners. Modern gas valves are controlled by 24V signals from the control board and include safety shutoffs.

Failure Symptoms

  • No gas flow to burners
  • Gas smell without ignition
  • Weak or inconsistent flame
  • Valve won't open or close

Testing Procedure

  1. Verify 24V signal from control board
  2. Check gas pressure at inlet and outlet
  3. Listen for click when valve energizes
  4. Measure coil resistance with multimeter
