The Goodman B1225022S Solenoid Coil is a genuine OEM electromagnetic coil for the solenoid valve used in the Goodman DSX160241AA 16 SEER, 2-ton outdoor condensing unit. When energized, the coil generates the magnetic field that shifts the valve plunger to control refrigerant flow. A failed or burned-out coil prevents the valve from actuating — leading to no cooling, short cycling, or refrigerant control faults. Replacing the coil is far cheaper than replacing the entire valve body.
This factory OEM coil is wound to Goodman's exact voltage and resistance spec and seats correctly on the matching valve stem. Generic coils may carry the wrong voltage rating or a loose bore that buzzes, overheats, or fails to fully shift the plunger. For dependable valve operation, the OEM coil is the correct match.
Difficulty: Moderate (3/5). The coil slides off the valve stem without opening the sealed refrigerant circuit — no brazing or recovery required. Shut off power at the disconnect, disconnect the coil's electrical leads, remove the retaining nut or clip, slide off the old coil, fit the new one, and reconnect. Verify voltage match and confirm the valve actuates on a test cycle. Allow 30–45 minutes; basic electrical familiarity recommended.
