The OEM Goodman 0130F00010S flame sensor is the flame-rectification rod used by Goodman and Amana gas furnaces such as the ACSS961205DNAA to confirm that the burners have lit. The control board reads the micro-amp current passing through the flame; if no flame signal is detected, it closes the gas valve within seconds for safety. A dirty, oxidized, or cracked sensor is one of the most common causes of furnaces that ignite then shut down (short-cycling on flame loss).
OEM sensors use the correct rod length and alloy to sit properly in the flame and produce a stable signal. Generic rods may produce a weak or erratic micro-amp reading, causing intermittent lockouts. For reliable flame proving, OEM is recommended.
Easy — Shut off power and gas, remove the single mounting screw, unplug the spade lead, and install the new sensor without touching the rod with bare fingers. A great DIY-friendly repair.
