The genuine Goodman 0130F00010S Flame Sensor is a direct-fit OEM replacement for the Goodman WGFM28090V5CXAA gas furnace. The flame sensor is a critical safety component that confirms the burner has actually lit by measuring the tiny rectified microamp current that flows through an active flame. When the rod oxidizes or cracks, the control board can no longer verify flame and will lock the furnace out — usually showing up as short-cycling, a furnace that lights then shuts down after a few seconds, or a persistent flame-sense fault code.
This is the factory Goodman part, manufactured to the exact rod length, alloy, and insulator spec the WGFM28090V5CXAA control board expects — so microamp readings stay in range and nuisance lockouts are avoided. Universal generic sensors are cheaper but often require bending or spacer shims to seat correctly and can drift out of the board's sense window. For a furnace you rely on for heat, the OEM part is the safe choice.
A basic 15–20 minute repair. Shut off power and gas, remove the burner-compartment panel, unscrew the single mounting screw, unplug the spade connector, install the new sensor, and reassemble. No special tools beyond a nut driver. Always verify power is off before servicing.
