The Goodman 0130F00010S Flame Sensor is a genuine OEM flame-rectification rod for the Goodman VMS80604BNAA gas furnace. Positioned in the burner flame path, it sends a micro-amp signal back to the control board to confirm the burner has actually lit. When the sensor is dirty, oxidized, or cracked, the board can't verify flame — so it closes the gas valve and locks out, producing the classic symptom of a furnace that lights for a few seconds then shuts off and short-cycles.
This genuine Goodman OEM flame sensor uses the correct rod length and alloy for a stable flame-current signal your board can read reliably. Generic sensors sometimes sit at the wrong depth in the flame, causing weak or erratic readings. For dependable ignition, OEM is preferred.
One of the simplest furnace repairs: power off, remove a single mounting screw, unplug the wire, and slide in the new sensor. Total time is usually under 15 minutes with basic tools — an ideal DIY fix for a short-cycling furnace.
