The Goodman 0130F00010S Flame Sensor is a genuine OEM flame-rectification rod built for the VMS80403ANAA gas furnace. This sensor confirms that a flame is actually present after the igniter fires; if it doesn't detect flame, the control board closes the gas valve for safety. A dirty or worn flame sensor is one of the most common causes of a furnace that lights briefly then shuts off (short cycling) or fails to stay lit on cold mornings.
The genuine Goodman OEM sensor uses the correct rod length, alloy, and bend geometry so it sits precisely in the flame path — critical for a stable microamp signal. Universal sensors may read weak or intermittent, causing repeated lockouts. For reliable ignition, the OEM part performs best.
Easy (1/5). One of the simplest furnace repairs. Turn off power and gas first. Remove the single mounting screw, unplug the wire lead, install the new sensor, and reconnect. Avoid touching the sensing rod with bare fingers — oils reduce sensitivity. Restore power and confirm the burner lights and stays lit.
