The Goodman 0130F00010S Flame Sensor is the OEM flame-rectification sensor for the GMT090-5A gas furnace. This single-rod sensor confirms the presence of a burner flame after ignition; if it fails to detect flame, the control board closes the gas valve for safety. A dirty, corroded, or cracked flame sensor is the #1 cause of furnace short-cycling and ignition lockout — the furnace lights, runs briefly, then shuts down.
The OEM Goodman sensor matches the original rod length, bracket geometry, and mounting hole so it seats correctly in the flame path — critical for a strong, stable microamp signal. Generic sensors often require bending or shimming and may produce a weak flame signal that triggers intermittent lockouts. OEM ensures a proper flame-current reading the first time.
Easy — DIY-friendly. Turn off power, remove one screw, unplug the wire, and install the new sensor. No gas connections involved. A 10-minute repair for most homeowners.
