The Goodman 0130F00010S Flame Sensor is a genuine OEM flame-rectification rod for the Goodman/Amana GMPE100-4A gas furnace. It confirms the presence of a burner flame within seconds of ignition; if it fails to detect flame, the control board closes the gas valve as a safety measure. A dirty, corroded, or failed flame sensor is one of the most common causes of furnace short-cycling and intermittent no-heat calls.
OEM sensors use the correct rod length, alloy, and mounting geometry so the flame envelopes the rod exactly as the control board expects, producing a stable microamp signal. Generic rods that sit too high or use lower-grade metal often generate weak or erratic signals, leading to nuisance lockouts. For reliable ignition, OEM is the safer choice.
One mounting screw and a single spade connector. This is one of the most DIY-friendly furnace repairs — typically 10–15 minutes. Shut off power and gas before servicing. Tip: if your existing sensor is only lightly corroded, cleaning it with fine abrasive pad can restore function, but a cracked or heavily pitted rod should always be replaced.
