The Goodman 0130F00010S Flame Sensor is a genuine OEM flame-sensing rod for the AMVM970803BNAA modulating gas furnace and compatible Goodman, Amana, and Daikin models. This sensor uses flame rectification: while the burner is lit, the ignition control passes a tiny microamp current through the flame to confirm the burner is actually firing. If the current is too weak — usually from a dirty, oxidized, or cracked rod — the control shuts the gas valve within seconds as a safety measure. A worn 0130F00010S is one of the most common causes of a furnace that ignites then shuts off (short cycling) or throws a no-flame-sensed lockout.
The OEM 0130F00010S places the sensing rod at the precise position and angle in the flame envelope that this burner needs for a stable microamp signal. Generic bend-to-fit rods often read low or erratic, causing intermittent lockouts. The OEM part restores a clean, reliable flame signal the first time.
Easy–Moderate (2/5). Turn off gas and power, remove one screw and the wire, and install the new rod — do not touch the ceramic insulator with bare fingers. Reassemble and confirm a steady flame signal (typically 2–6 µA) with a meter if available.
