The Goodman 0130F00010S Flame Sensor is a genuine OEM flame-rectification rod for the Amana/Goodman AMVC80805CXBD two-stage variable-speed gas furnace. The flame sensor confirms to the control board that a flame is actually present after ignition. It works by passing a tiny microamp current through the flame; if the board doesn't detect that current, it shuts the gas valve to prevent unburned gas from accumulating. A dirty, corroded, or failed sensor is one of the most common causes of a furnace that lights briefly then shuts off (short-cycling) or goes into lockout.
OEM vs. Generic: The genuine Goodman 0130F00010S uses the correct rod length, mounting angle, and terminal so it sits properly in the burner flame and reads a stable signal. Generic sensors may position the rod incorrectly, producing a weak or erratic microamp reading and repeat nuisance shutdowns. For reliable flame proving, install the OEM sensor.
Install difficulty: Easy (1/5). Shut off power, remove one mounting screw, disconnect the sensor wire, and install the new rod — a 10-minute job. Avoid touching the rod with bare fingers, and if the old sensor was only dirty, note that a fresh OEM sensor plus clean burners gives the most reliable result.
