The Goodman/Amana 0130F00010S flame sensor is the flame-rectification rod used on the AMVC80803BNBD and compatible Goodman and Amana furnaces. It confirms the presence of a burner flame after ignition by conducting a tiny microamp current through the flame to the control board. When the sensor is dirty, corroded, or cracked, the board can no longer prove flame and shuts the gas valve within seconds — the classic symptom of a furnace that lights, runs a few seconds, then shuts off and repeats (short-cycling or no heat).
This genuine OEM sensor uses the correct rod length, ceramic insulator, and mounting orientation so it sits properly in the flame envelope. Generic rods can misposition the tip, causing weak signal and repeat lockouts. For a reliable flame-proving signal, the OEM part is recommended.
Rating: Easy (1/5). A 5–15 minute job with a 1/4" nut driver. Shut off power and gas first. Tip: if your current sensor is only dirty, lightly cleaning it with fine steel wool may restore function — but a cracked insulator or pitted rod should always be replaced.
