The Goodman 0130F00010S is the OEM flame sensor (flame rod) for the Amana AMES920803BNAA gas furnace. It uses flame rectification to prove the burner has actually lit; the control board reads the microamp signal from the rod and keeps the gas valve open only while a flame is confirmed. A dirty, corroded, or cracked flame sensor is the single most common cause of a furnace that lights then shuts off after a few seconds and repeatedly short-cycles on ignition lockout.
The genuine OEM 0130F00010S uses the correct rod length, alloy, and ceramic insulator so the flame-sense current stays in the board's expected range. Universal flame sensors sometimes read low or bend to the wrong position in the flame, causing intermittent lockouts. Choose OEM for a guaranteed match; a value generic equivalent is available for budget repairs.
Very easy — DIY-friendly (10–15 min). Power down the furnace, remove the single mounting screw, unplug the spade connector, and swap in the new rod — do not touch the metal rod with bare fingers. While you're in there, it's good practice to keep the burner area clean. Restore power and confirm a steady flame with no lockout.
