The Goodman 0130F00010S Flame Sensor is a genuine OEM ignition component for the AMEC801005CNAB gas furnace. The flame sensor confirms the burner has actually lit by conducting a tiny microamp rectified current through the flame; when that signal drops — usually from oxide buildup on the rod — the control board shuts the gas valve to prevent unburned gas from accumulating. A weak or failed sensor is the single most common cause of furnaces that light briefly then shut down (short-cycling) or lock out with a no-heat fault.
The OEM sensor uses the correct rod length, alloy, and mounting bracket so the flame envelope contacts the rod exactly as the factory intended — critical for a stable microamp reading. Generic sensors often sit at the wrong depth in the flame, producing marginal signal that triggers intermittent lockouts. For reliable ignition, OEM is strongly recommended.
Easy. Typically one screw and a single spade connector. Kill power first, swap the sensor, and avoid touching the rod with bare fingers. A 10-minute repair for most DIYers.
