The Goodman 0130M00105 defrost thermostat is a temperature-sensing switch that tells your ANZ130601AA heat pump when to initiate and terminate a defrost cycle. Clipped to the outdoor coil, it closes when frost builds up in cold weather and opens once the coil clears, protecting efficiency and preventing ice damage. A failed defrost thermostat is a common cause of a coil that ices over or a unit that defrosts endlessly, so replacing it with a genuine OEM sensor restores correct heating operation.
Generic defrost switches often carry the wrong close/open temperatures, which causes short-cycling defrost, wasted energy, or a frozen coil. This genuine Goodman thermostat is calibrated to the exact set points the ANZ130601AA control board expects, guaranteeing defrost cycles fire at the right coil temperature every time.
Rating: Easy (2/5). Expect 15–20 minutes. Shut off power at the disconnect, remove the access panel, unclip the old sensor from the coil, transfer the two spade connectors to the new thermostat, and clip it into the same location. No refrigerant work required.
