The Goodman 0130M00105 is a genuine OEM defrost thermostat that senses outdoor coil temperature and signals the defrost control board to initiate or terminate a defrost cycle on the ANZ130481AC heat pump. When this sensor fails, the unit may ice over in heating mode, run continuous defrost cycles, or fail to defrost at all — all of which slash efficiency and can damage the compressor. It's an inexpensive but essential component for reliable cold-weather heating.
The factory-calibrated open/close temperature set points ensure the defrost cycle triggers exactly when Goodman engineered it to. Aftermarket sensors may use different thresholds or clip styles, causing premature or delayed defrost and reduced heating performance. For a calibration-sensitive part this cheap, OEM is the obvious pick.
Rating: Moderate. The sensor clips to the outdoor coil and connects to the defrost board with a wire harness. Replacement requires accessing the coil, unclipping the old sensor, and matching the connector — no refrigerant work needed. Kill power at the disconnect first. Allow 20–40 minutes; a novice DIYer with basic tools can usually handle it.
Compatible with the Goodman/Amana ANZ130481AC heat pump. Verify your model and serial before ordering.
