The Goodman 20171701 is a genuine OEM condensate drain trap for the GMH950904CXAB high-efficiency (condensing) gas furnace and compatible Goodman/Amana models. In a 90%+ AFUE furnace the secondary heat exchanger produces acidic condensate that must drain freely while the trap maintains a water seal that blocks flue gases from escaping through the drain line. A cracked or clogged trap causes water leaks, pressure-switch faults, and lockouts.
The genuine Goodman trap matches the exact port locations, barb sizes, and orientation of the factory drain system, so hoses connect without kinks and the water seal depth is correct. Generic traps often require adapters and can leak or trap incorrectly, causing pressure-switch nuisance trips. OEM is the reliable fit here.
Moderate (3/5). Shut off power, disconnect and label the condensate hoses, remove the old trap, prime the new trap with water, reconnect all lines, and confirm free drainage. Flush the trap and check for leaks on the first heat cycle. About 30–45 minutes.
Prime the trap before startup and verify no water leaks around hose connections.
