The Goodman 20171701 condensate drain trap is the factory-specified drainage component for the GMH950453BXAB 95% AFUE two-stage gas furnace and compatible high-efficiency Goodman/Amana models. On condensing furnaces the drain trap captures acidic condensate from the secondary heat exchanger and maintains a water seal that blocks flue gases from backing up into the cabinet. A cracked, clogged, or missing trap is a leading cause of nuisance pressure-switch lockouts and water leaks.
OEM vs. Generic: This is a genuine Goodman OEM trap engineered to the exact port spacing and float geometry of your furnace. Universal traps often require adapters and can cause improper drainage or seal loss — the OEM part drops in without modification and preserves your warranty coverage.
Install difficulty: Easy (1/5). Power down the furnace, disconnect the drain lines, swap the trap, prime it with water to establish the seal, and reconnect. Typically a 15–20 minute job for a homeowner comfortable with basic hand tools.
