The Goodman 20171701 condensate drain trap is the factory-original component for the GKS90905DXAA 90%+ AFUE gas furnace. In a high-efficiency furnace, the secondary heat exchanger produces acidic condensate that must drain freely while the trap maintains a water seal — preventing flue gases and combustion-air pressure from escaping through the drain line. A cracked, clogged, or missing trap triggers pressure-switch faults and furnace lockouts.
This genuine Goodman OEM trap matches the exact port diameters, inlet/outlet geometry, and mounting footprint of your furnace, so hoses seat correctly and the water seal holds. Generic traps rarely align with Goodman's multi-port design and often leak or restrict flow, leading to intermittent pressure-switch open faults that are hard to diagnose.
Moderate (3/5). Plan on 20–30 minutes. Power down the furnace, place a towel to catch residual water, disconnect the drain hoses (note each connection), unclip the old trap, and fit the new one with the same hose routing. Prime the trap with clean water before restarting so the seal is established. Flushing the trap seasonally extends its life.
Disconnect power before servicing. Handle condensate carefully — it is mildly acidic.
