The Goodman 20171701 Condensate Drain Trap is a genuine OEM assembly for the GKS90704CXAC 90%+ high-efficiency gas furnace and related Goodman/Amana models. In a condensing furnace, the secondary heat exchanger produces acidic condensate that must drain freely while the trap maintains a water seal that blocks flue gases from escaping into the cabinet. A cracked, clogged, or mis-seated trap triggers pressure-switch faults, water leaks, and no-heat lockouts — making this one of the most common service parts on high-efficiency Goodman furnaces.
The trap's internal baffling and port layout are engineered to match this furnace's drainage and pressure-switch tubing. The genuine OEM 20171701 guarantees a correct water seal and port alignment; generic traps often leak, hold an improper seal, or fail to connect to the factory hoses, causing intermittent, hard-to-diagnose faults.
Moderate (3/5). Requires disconnecting condensate hoses and pressure-switch tubing, then re-seating the trap and priming it with water. Power down the furnace, catch residual condensate, and check for leaks and correct pressure-switch operation after install. When in doubt, use a licensed HVAC technician.
