The Goodman 20171701 condensate drain trap is a factory replacement for the GCH950704CXAC 95% AFUE condensing gas furnace and related Goodman/Amana high-efficiency models. In a condensing furnace, the secondary heat exchanger produces acidic condensate that must drain freely while the trap maintains a water seal to block flue gases from escaping into the cabinet. A cracked, clogged, or algae-fouled trap causes water leaks, pressure-switch faults, and lockout codes that stop the furnace from firing.
The OEM trap matches Goodman's exact port sizing, seal height, and mounting orientation, so the pressure switches read correctly and drainage flows as designed. Generic traps often shift the water-seal depth and trigger false pressure-switch lockouts. For reliable condensate handling, choose the genuine OEM part.
Moderate. Involves disconnecting the drain and pressure-switch tubing, removing the old trap, and reconnecting the new one — then priming it with water to establish the seal. Power off the furnace first and check for leaks after refilling. This is a good time to flush the condensate line and clear any biofilm.
