The Goodman 20171701 Condensate Drain Trap is the genuine OEM assembly for the AMVC951155DXBA 95%+ AFUE modulating furnace and compatible Goodman/Amana high-efficiency models. On condensing furnaces the secondary heat exchanger produces acidic condensate that must drain freely while the trap maintains a water seal to block flue gases from escaping into the cabinet. A cracked, clogged, or algae-fouled trap is a leading cause of pressure-switch lockouts and Error/status codes on these units.
The OEM Goodman trap matches the factory inlet/outlet geometry and internal baffle height exactly, so the water seal and pressure-switch reference are correct out of the box. Generic universal traps often require adapters and can throw off the pressure-switch signal, leading to intermittent no-heat faults. For a condensing furnace, the exact-fit OEM part is the reliable choice.
A 20–30 minute job: power down, disconnect the inlet/outlet condensate hoses and pressure tubing, remove the old trap, clean the fittings, and install the new trap. Flush the trap and confirm free drainage before restoring power. We recommend cleaning the full condensate path while you're in there.
